Do you want to be an archaeologist? Bournemouth University is offering an opportunity to gain valuable work experience on an important prehistoric settlement site at Winterborne Kingston in central Dorset alongside staff and students of the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology. The ‘Big Dig’ Field School will provide hands-on experience and you will play an active role, participating in the excavation of an Iron Age site with opportunities to dig Iron Age settlement features, find and process artefacts, as well as learning how to survey and record the surrounding landscape. The fieldwork takes place at Winterborne Kingston, near Bere Regis, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Dates:  5th June to 7th July 2023

Transport is available from Talbot Campus leaving at 8am, returning around 5ish depending on traffic.  There will be additional instructions and a risk assessment for all those who come along

 

Application process: Student to email with a supporting statement (1-2 paragraphs) about why they would like the work experience placement.

BCP are delighted to offer a webinar aimed at parents and carers of young adults primarily in Year 10-13

The aim of the webinar is to offer help and advice to parents who are having careers conversations with their teens at home. It will offer suggestions on questions to ask, explain why it is important and offer places for further support and information.

 

The webinar will take place on Thursday 22nd April from 5-6pm via Zoom. We are asking all parents to register prior to the event.
