Curriculum Overview

Parkfield School teaches through a combined curriculum of Montessori based education and National Curriculum in Reception (Foundation) and Key Stage 1.

In Key Stage 2 we teach our students National Curriculum in English and Maths and foundation subjects and Science are taught thematically through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).

In the Secondary sector of the school Parkfield School is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (11 - 16) and the Diploma Programme (post 16). This school is currently pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Parkfield School believes is important for our students.

*Only schools authorised by the IB Organisation can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate).  

All of our curriculum offers are taught with the consideration of the needs of all learners. We strive to engage all of our students through an exciting and challenging learning opportunities which inspire them to develop a passion for learning and encourages inquisitiveness, critical thinking, independent learning, confidence and a strong sense of self worth in our students.

All of our students in the Primary sector of the school and Year 7 and Year 8 are taught two languages, French and Spanish. In Year 9 our students choose to specialise in one Modern Foreign Language.

All of our students from KS1 through to KS4 participate in a private reading or guided reading session for 30 minutes after lunch each day.
