Extra-curricular activities

 

Junior Choir  

Children in Years 3 to 6 are invited to join the Parkfield Junior Choir. This takes place on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30pm on floor 5 in Willow Classroom with Mr Gibbons and Mrs Griggs. We aim to perform in some capacity at least once each term, and this term we will be performing a "Journeys" song symphony to parents towards the end of March. More details to follow.

Year 2 & 3 Recorders

Recorders lessons for Year 2 children will begin in the summer term with Mrs Murray and this will continue once they are in Year 3. Recorders are provided for the children unless they have their own already.

In year 3 Recorder lessons the children finished their learning with Mrs Murray at the end of last term and have now graduated onto lessons with Mrs Hovelmeier. They are looking forward to performing to parents again at our new site!

Year 4 Ukelele

Year 4 ukelele lessons began in January for Year 4 children with Mrs Murray and Miss Josey. The ukeleles are provided unless the children have their own already.

Year 3 & 4 Percussion Ensemble

After the success of the Year 3 & 4 percussion ensemble with Mrs Mason which performed with members of the Bournemouth Symphony orchestra last year, the same opportunity will be offered to children in Years 3 & 4 during the summer term, once we have moved to our new site. 

Folk Band ensemble with Wren Music for Years 5-8

Following on from last year's Folk Music group, Wren Music led by Jon Dyer will be returning to Parkfield in the Summer term to re-start the group and new members will be more than welcome, including beginners! More details to follow. 

Year 9 Samba band

The Year 9 Samba band performed with great success at the end of last term, and a video of their performance was shown in Secondary assembly. If any of the current Year 7s or 8s would like to sign up for the next instalment of samba drum playing, then please let me know and I can book Mrs Murray in for further lessons later in the year.

Rockademy Lessons

Keyboard and Guitar lessons with Rob from "Rockademy" are on Wednesday afternoons on floor 4. A handful of spaces have become available in recent weeks if anyone would like to sign up, please ask me for more information. 

Rockademy band are returning to Parkfield on Thursday 30th March to perform once again with children who are currently learning with them and will be looking for new students to join them at our new site in the summer term, where they will also be offering drum lessons, with Frank, their drum teacher. Rob will continue to offer keyboard and guitar lessons. Singing lessons are also available for anyone who is interested. Look out for more information regarding this towards the end of March. 

 

Drum Lessons with Mr Speller

Monday afternoon drum lessons with Mr Speller will continue at our new site on our brand new Tama starter drum kit. 

 

Woodwind Lessons

Woodwind lessons on the recorder, flute and clarinet will be on offer in the summer term after our site move. Miss Gobbett, the woodwind teacher, will be coming in to play for us early in the term, and more information about woodwind lessons will follow this.

Friday 24th March - Red Nose Day Charity Performance (Primary children) on the Playground - "Put your nose on it!" - 2:15pm

Monday 27th March - Junior Choir Concert on Floor 5 @ 4:00pm

Thursday 30th March - Rockademy band students Concert Assembly on Floor 3 @ 2:00pm

Summer Term  - Parkfield Arts Festival

                        - Proms on the Playground  - more details to follow 

 

BSO Trip to Poole Lighthouse

 

Children from Years 3 - 6 will once again be attending Poole Lighthouse to watch the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra play live on stage. This will be on Tuesday the 23rd of May in the afternoon. This years' concert is entitled "Secrets and Codes" and will also involve the children learning and performing a body percussion piece as well as a song, both of which they will perform with the orchestra accompanying them live. The concert itself is free but there willl be a small cost per child for the coach. More details to follow.
