Today in assembly we celebrated our success at sports day. We had two catergories, Team spirit and points awarded.

On Wednesday 17th May, normal lessons were pushed aside for the day for the whole school to participate in a day of Science exploration and inverstigation. Mixed groups of students from year 3 up to year 10 came together to learn about Evolution and Darwin's theories and experimental work.…
The children enjoyed dancing and playing different games at the school disco. Well done to all the children who won prizes for their superb dance moves. A big thank you to the PFA for all their help and organising.

This week we have been looking at money. We would like the children to count the number of 1ps and write the total.
In Reception the children have been learning about Diwali. We have been dancing to Hindi music, making and writing Diwali cards, using pasta to make Rangoli patterns and making henna patterns.

The children have enjoyed learning about fireworks this week. They have danced to firework music, learnt about the Gunpower Plot story and made firework pictures. The children enjoyed using paint, glitter and stickers to make their pictures.

Today Buttercup class went up to the computer room. They used paint to create fireworks pictures. We had great fun.
The children worked together to build sentences around 'The 3 Little Pigs' story.
Using our phonics we have been looking at hearing and recognising initial sounds in words and pictures.

The children enjoyed acting out and retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs. They were able to answer questions about the story and sequence pictures of what happened. Tomorrow they will be drawing story maps of what happened in The 3 Little Pigs.
We have been working on our number formation, learning rhymes to help us.
This morning the Buttercups made bread. We learnt what we needed to make bread, the classroom smelt lovely. Later on in the day we went to Tesco and saw a baker making bread.
Today we visited Tesco, the children saw where big lorries bring deliveries and where food is stored before going on the shelves. Then we were able to go in their huge walk in freezer, it was very cold! The lady talked about different foods and what they are used for, we were able to taste raisins…
In Art, the children learnt about mixing colours. They used paint to find out that if you mixed yellow and red paint, you would get orange. They also found out that if you mixed blue and yellow paint, you would get green.

This week we have been learning all about our body. We have been naming and labelling parts of the body. In PE the children used all the parts of their body to move in different ways. We really enjoyed using cotton buds to make skeleton pictures.

Reception and Year One children had a lovely time working with Mr Black and some secondary children to learn the French version of 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes', well done everyone!
